We primarily source from the City of Austin system. Per Austin Water’s 2025 report, Austin’s water runs about 93 ppm - 5.4 grains per gallon, which is soft for Central Texas.
Round Rock’s own supply is the hardest of any city we serve: 249 ppm, about 14.5 grains - and it swings anywhere from 100 to 358 depending on which source is in the blend that day. So the water we deliver is roughly a third the hardness of what comes out of your hose, and it does not swing.

Where Round Rock’s water comes from. More sources than anyone else around here: Lake Georgetown via the Brazos River Authority, Lake Stillhouse Hollow through a 28-mile pipeline, Edwards Aquifer wells, and Lake Travis water through BCRUA.
Watering restrictions: Round Rock is on year-round standards right now, no mandatory drought stage - your designated day, before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m. Note that Fern Bluff MUD and Brushy Creek MUD are separate providers with their own rules. If you are in one of those, check with them.
